How often do ruby crabs molt? When searching for my ruby crab i found what i thought was him but dead, i even poked at it and no movement. I continued pulling rock out of my tank when all of a sudden i felt something crawling up my arm  scared the h3ll out of me but yes it was my crab:). I looked back at the rock and sure enough molt was still there! So my question how often do they molt? should there outer shell be taken out of the tank when this happens or is it no big deal? thanks

My cleaner shrimp sheds about once a month, I take it out as it looks a little gross.:)

Its all dependant on age and amount they are fed. young ones, as often as by-weekly and old, underfed ones, as little as only a very few times a year. I leave in the molts, they degrade fast and are full of calcium and keratin that many other inhabitants can consume and use.

really? Is it unusual that mine has molted twice this week? I've only had him a week

every time I see a crab molt I think the worst. They always look like a savage crime scene

Proper calcium levels are also important to molting.
