Finally found some peppermint shrimp to take care of our aiptasia problem, but if you asked our hawkfish he said the $10 shrimp buffet was open for business!

The ReefMat is amazing! Once it settled in we’re going through 20-24” a day which is probably about a roll a month. The water has never been so clear even when we attempted to keep up with the filter socks. It also cut our need to clean the glass in half. Best Christmas gift to ourselves and worth the time hacking up the sump.

Our crazy clowns currently have two clutches of eggs. The obvious bright red patch just below the clown and the little wrigglers with eyes by the patch of algae up and to the left from where the clown is.

So the story Jodi is referring to in the ideas for meetings thread about your worst algae outbreak you’ve caused is pretty straight forward stupid mistake on my part.
I had not maintained our RODI in way too long and the tds was way too high. I have a small horde of carbon and sediment filters so I ordered new membranes and replaced everything on the filter. I let it purge for a while and was like yay mystery solved!
Wrong! Weirdly the TDS coming out was higher than what was going in. This went on for a while and I thought the DI resin must have gone south or something. Enter Rob Mougey reef god! He asked one simple question,”Did you reconnect all of the hoses correctly when you reassembled the unit?” I felt dumb! I also thought of course I did overdone this a million times.
This was over a couple a beers so I decided to check the next day. And the moment I looked at I had a face palm moment. I had reconnected to so that the waste line was filling the RO reservoir and the beautiful clean fresh water was going down the drain!
Lesson learned always double check your hoses!
