so... be careful what you buy on here and CL... and remember to TEST BEFORE YOU BUY!

Bought a 400w halide setup and basically... well yeah i need a new 400w ballast. The ballast came with the internals fried and melted. I regretfully drove to the springs and DIDNT ask to have the ballast plugged in and tried with bulbs prior to purchase because of the rain and now i am dealing with what i have purchased which turned out to be 2 broken bulbs and 1 bulb that SEEMS to be ok... but i don't have a ballast to test. Now i didn't pay an arm and a leg for this, but for what i did pay in gas and for the items i have basically screwed myself.

ANYWHO.... does anyone have a 400w ballast? I can rewire or anything like that... but i need one for this halide setup. Don't know if any of u have a ballast in the garage or basement that isn't being used or anything like that... but if you do lemme know!

I have some M59 core and coils in cases. Work great just won't fire Radiums very well

Might just need a new capacitor/starter.
this is true... where can i find JUST that tho? and realistically would it be cheaper to buy one of those or just a "new" 400w ballast off CL or here?
...after i check to make sure it works/has what i need... lol

pretty much is... lol.

has the lock on one side, metal handle... hole drilled out the side. i mean realistically i paid $20 for the ballast and 3 bulbs, but i also spent over 40 in gas and almost got my car flooded going down to pick this up, so all in all i spent $60 on the ballast and 3 bulbs.

Google.
Grainger might have some that will cross reference if you can read the numbers? Otherwise any lighting company should have some.

Yeah. Like I said. Was very careful touching and wasn't gonna open that. LoL. Gonna either disconnect completely with the ground connected... Or buy a new ballast. Haha

Do you have to have a 400w MH? I have a couple 250w ballasts that were given to me along with some SE bulbs that you could have if they would work for you and with the light fixture you have.

I have an open top canopy and was just making a new spot. I'd actually prefer and rather 2 250d with the big honkin tank brace I have... Would you want this 400w ballast + bulb and reflectors to trade? LoL from what I hear only needs a new capacitor?

No trades needed. ;) I would just give you these. These were given to me so I am good with just giving these to you. I will have to dig them out I think. These are electronic ballasts. Not the magnetic type. If you are ok with that. 14k bulbs I think, single end, screw in.

I only have the ballasts and bulbs - no sockets/fixtures. Your 400 fixture should be fine for the bulbs do you have another fixture?
