Looking at getting a larger tank, but don't know what to look for in a used acrylic. Other than scratches and cracks, what should I be looking out for ? I have only ever owned glass, but would be open to acrylic if the right deal came along. Just don't want to end up with a large yard ornament. Lol

Look for bubbling on glue joints and stress fractures. Make sure they haven't modified the supports on top. But you pretty much got it covered. Maybe ask when it was built I wouldn't personally buy one older than 8+ yrs.

Are there certain brands to stay away from?
Not that I've heard. Don't have a lot of experience with acrylic, I wouldn't get one someone home made unless they have made several of them.

Thanks for your input.I just want to make sure I know what I'm looking at. A good deal is no deal if its junk.
