I have an aiptasia eating file fish that has decimated every piece of Aiptasia in my tank. So I moved him to my 40b in the basement and he got every one in there as well. I put him back in the display, and he was doing great for months, then he recently took a liking to a colony of Captain America Palys. In about 3 days he appears to have eaten them all. So he is currently back in the 40b where some baby aiptasia re-appeared. After that I might just put him in my sump and see if he goes for much in there.
I was wondering if anybody has an aiptasia problem, and wants to buy him....or borrow him. I don't exactly want to call him reef safe/unsafe as it appears as long as there is aiptasia he only eats that. Once it's all gone he goes after corals. I don't ever truly believe that the aiptasia will be out of my tanks, so I hesitate to give away a proven eater, but at the same time if he goes after my zoas and palys then he it too much of a risk for me. If you are interested, and understand the potential risk, let me know. I've held rocks with aiptasia in front of him and he eats them right off of the rock from my hand! He's a cool fish, especially if you have an aiptasia problem!
