Apex controllers?

Hello all,

So when I first got into the bobbie I bought a reef keeper lite (plus) for my biocube. But now that I have upgraded to a 65 gallon I am thinking about swapping it for an Apex system. I was wondering if they are worth the hefty investment? I would sell my RKL to help finance the Apex but I am not sure what I would get out of it. My tank is 65 gallons with 2 vortech's and 2 AI hydra lighting fixtures. I would eventually buy the apex control units for both so I could then control feeding modes with a single button. Anyway, any thought on whether this is worth it would be much appreciated.

I have a full Apex and control everything from lighting to dosing to ATO to ...... Point is I really enjoy the automation, so it was worth it to me. It seems like I discover something new to automate all the time. Unfortunately, I've never had a RKL, so I can't compare the two.

If you have vortechs and ai lights, the apex is miles better hands down.

+1 I have both, the RK Lite, and an Apex, I cant see where an apex isn't better, hands down, for any function. I still run my rk on my small tank, and just for simple timing functions its fine.

Well it sounds like you all like apex. I guess I will try and pick one up. I hope I can sell my RKL (plus) if anyone knows someone who is looking for one please direct them to me.

So I just bought a full apex with a WXM module, and additional bar 4 power unit, with a net gear adapter for $550 shipped from a guy getting out of the hobby. Hope the system is as good as you all say.

Trust me that you will be happy with the Apex. Get it upgraded to the latest firmware if it is not already there, and things will get even better when Fusion officially releases.

Fusion officially released and is live now. I don't even use the old interface anymore...no more DNS servers, and the UI is soooo much nicer.

edit: OK, maybe misspoke there. When I could no longer use the link that was provided for the closed beta and found an Apex Fusion website on google...I thought it had been released. Apparently it's in open beta now. That being said, it seems to have full functionality and I've had minimal problems using the Fusion interface. You can program your Vortechs as well as the Radion with the new interface, and the only issue I've had was that after a firmware update you have to go back to the old interface and enable apex fusion in order to use the website remotely. Either way though...you should go check it out :)

Fusion is no lobger in open beta. It is officially released as of about a month and a half ago. I would still get the original dashboard going and get port forwarding and ddns set up right now since a lot of features are still only available on the original dashboard and it is a godsend when the fusion servers are down for maintainance.

If you need any help at all, feel free to PM me or post a thread on neptune forums. I like to consider myself the resident apex expert and work closely with russ on beta testing and new development.
