Hey guys I just picked up a mandarin goby and made sure it was eating frozen before I purchased it but I would still like to get some pods for it to snack on. I was wondering which pods I should order for it from algae barn. They have the tisbe and tiger pods. This is my first mandarin and although I have done tons of research I just want to make sure one pod is not better than the other. Thanks for any help with this.

From Algae Barn get the Poseidon's Feast. It is a mix of a few different pod types. A couple of them are fast breeders to help keep the pop up.

I must have missed that option when I was on the site last night. I'll look again. Thanks for the tip.

I just saw they are all named PFeast. I will look at my bottle when I get home tonight. I just picked it up at the meeting on the 24th, and was talking directly with the Algae Barn guy.

He said it had three types in it. One was some big type (Tigger maybe) that would help distract the fish from the smaller types when it went in. It then had two types that were quick breeders to help establish a colony in my sump.

If you could let me know what it is when you get home that would be great. I wanna order asap.

Best pods to buy for mandarin.

I think it's called poseidons feast. It's a blend of tisbe, tigers, and rotifers if I'm not mistaken.

That is exactly the problem. The web site lists all their types of pods as PFeast. Maybe they all have the mix, and the specific pod named is just the majority?

In my opinion if hes eating frozens keep him eating frozen. You might get him back to where all he wants to eat is pods and wont touch frozens. Its a PITA to get a dragonette to eat frozen so your lucky. Where the hell did you find one that eats frozens already?

My wife took me to elite for a fish for my birthday and she has always wanted a mandarin. I have said no 100 times but I figured I'd ask if they would feed the tank and sure enough one out of the two that were in the tank went after it. At that point I said why not. Its a smaller female but I want to keep it alive.

+1 on the Algae Barn product. We use the pods and phyto at the store. Very impressed!

I picked up a bottle of Poseidon's Feast from Mindblowing Corals today - you might check there if you are up north

The bottle I have is marked in big lettering at Poseidon's Feast, and then in smaller lettering "Live Zooplankton Blend"

It lists that it has Togriopus, Tisbe, and Rotifers.

I didn't see that on the site. Maybe I'll just send them a message and ask. Thanks.

They aren't too far from me. Maybe I'll look there before I order.

Do you have a refugium? I stocked mine with other members algae and now I have tons of tiny pods in there. I plan on just scooping some out at night so he can have some in the morning.

No refugium. I do have an area in my filter chamber with chaeto but my tank is an all in one.
