I did that the first time right before surgery, but Im not supposed to bend, lift, shop vac my basement post op now. What happened was the landlord forgot to send over the plummer to remove the roots from the pipes that need to be redone any day. I was taking a shower and running the dishwasher when all that water backed up and semi flooded the basement. It seems fine to me but the carpet has an odd texture. If it can wait Ill just soak with rodi again, oxi clean the crap out of it and shop vac, vinegar and baking soda it and shop vac again. If I should get it done asap, I would rather a professional get it done, my landlord did not agree to help with that. More worried about what could be lurking in the carpet.
No its bone dry cut some up to check. I got roughly 8-10 gallons up in the vac, I think about 12ish overflowed but just a guess with dishwasher and shower output. Just trying to appease the wife 
I just told her the ladies on the reef forums said to get down there with a bucket and the vac and don't come up till she needs more water. I think I get to sleep on the couch tonight!

I wouldn't recommend drying out water that came from a sewer/waste line. That's category 3 water and is a hazard (remember your poo travels through that same waste line). I work insurance claims and the industry standard is to tear out and replace carpet and pad should it be damaged by CAT3 water. Pad is really hard to completely dry anyway.
My recommendation would to get a professional mitigation contractor (Belfor, AllPhase, etc) and have the water extracted/ pull the carpet and pad. Id also have them apply anti microbial agent to prevent mold growth.

I'll look into those guys. I was worried about that but the owner said he used special pad to protect for that. I'm not buying the leave it alone story and if i'm renting here I don't want poo in the carpet or anything. It is already dry thou, that was... 11 days ago and fans have been running on it since. I was able to pull an area up from the utility closet closest to the drain.
Id make sure your landlord is on board with it cause mitigation can be big $$. Also, let the pro's tell you it's dry. They have moisture meters that can detect moisture in/behind walls. Not sure if water came in contact with walls but drywall wicks water quickly as does the insulation behind it.
Oh and it's total BS that there is "special pad" to prevent damage...

I have used Zerorez before to clean our carpet. They do an excellent job. I have spilled saltwater many times on on our old carpet before i placed tile. I noticed even after you clean the carpet up yourself, you still have some salt residue left over.Having a professional cleaner go over it could help
