My friend is interested in possibly setting up a 55 gallon fowlr but doesn't want to spend too much money. What do you guys recommend for filtration? Not sure a sump will be an option. Thanks for the help.

Nothing crazy. Couple clowns I'm sure with some other random fish here and there. Nothing with a huge bio load.

I've got a marineland magnum 350 canister filter I'd sell for $60 with two new filters. It would take care of the mechanical filtration and you can run carbon, in it if you want, for chemical filtration. The live rock in the tank will take care of the biological filtration. This filter works way better than a HOB and will add decent flow to the tank.

Ive got a 55 gal that I used as a QT tank for a bit that I would let go for $80. Comes with tank, black stand, large HOB filter, and cheapo lights.
