LOL. How about you drop the black pipe straight into the firebox and incinerate the sh!t.

Honestly I wouldn't worry about moving the pipe. Horizontal run to the new vertical drop, then the vertical drop, then pick up where the existing tank runs to the main basement exit. I bet you could go to the Depot, Lowes, etc, ask all the plumbing people around to get different opinions, then do it all yourself with no proiblems.

EDIT: If you do it yourself, please just wash your hands before dinner.

Yeah, I have to scrub my hands a lot anyways to get the diesel oil off before I go hand diving into the tank! I'm gonna sweet talk and do some real investigation this weekend. I think I'll bring my video probe home from work and make a few little holes.

Jack, kinda thinking out loud here and maybe i missed it when I read through this thread but did you happen to mention what type if fireplace this is? I know its gas, but the reason I ask is this, whats on the right side of that fireplace? Exterior wall? If so its very possible that fireplace is a direct vent unit and its vented out the through the side of the house as apposed to the roof. Also, is that unit single sided or a peninsula?

If so theres no reason you couldnt easily move that pipe to run down the back or even left side of the fireplace completely avoiding the vent pipe. Wrap the sewer line in some type of fireproof insulation near the unit for piece of mind and i bet youd be good to go. Dont let an inspector see it though

Yeah I'll have to figure that out. I think there's enough room to run the pipe, but it drains 2 sinks and a toilet upstairs, so the big question is how they come together into 1 pipe and if ill have access to reroute said pipe without opening up extra walls. I'm gonna do some digging around this weekend.
