Second question of the day, anyone ever clean out their sump? I clean all equipment monthly but I've been noticing a large buildup of algae on the glass dividers, almost to the point of a turf scrubber. Would there ever be a point where it'd be a good idea to take out all the rock and completely clean the sump out?
Cleaning out algae would be like a turf scrubber and be a source of nutrient export. I don't know if I would go to town and make it spotless but big chunks I can pick out pretty easily I definitely have done in mine
I try to pull mine out every 6 months or so. Every month or so, I will use a pump to run it dry and wipe it down. Makes for a nice extra water change too...
