So I am trying to find a good salt to use for my new 75. I used Kent reef salt in my 55 and it always had low alk, I was dosing a good amount of 2 part to keep it where I wanted. I'm thinking of going with reef crystals. i'm looking for a salt mix with a good balance of calcium alkalinity and magnesium.

Interesting you are thinking of going from Kent to Reef Crystals. I actually just switched from RC to Kent. So far every bucket has been rock solid at right about 10dKH. Mag has been low but I use Kent Marine Tech M to kill bryopsis anyways. I switched for 2 reasons. First was the nasty crap residue in my mixing vat that the RC would leave behind. The second reason was due to my skimmer going nuts for 2 days after water changes. It was so bad I would have to turn off my skimmer during that time. Not a good thing while carbon dosing.

I do really like the Kent to be honest. It mixes super fast, consistent parameters and it doesnt effect my skimmer.

Yea a buddy of mine uses salinity and everything is doing real we ll with it, I can't seem to find it anywhere though. Really you are getting 10 dkh, what salinity do you keep it at. I was keeping it at 1.025and was getting 7dkh the calcium and magnesium were good though.

Salinity. I don't have to dose. I do 20% water change every Sunday. I test the parameters 2-3 times per month, they have been spot on since switching to aquavitro salinity.

You can't buy it online. Aquavitro has restricted to fish store sales only. DorkFish aquatics sells it. I saw another store here on the forum who sells as well.

We use Kent exclusively now, it just makes sense with caring for over 14,000 gallons of salt water systems, mostly reefs, and I have had great luck with the numbers after mixing it up like Kris has. I'm not suggesting that it is the best salt out there, but it is a good one for sure.
