300 - a little late build.

Well, I've asked enough questions and shared a few photos through those threads. Figure I should share my build and get any recommendations to make it better.

Tank is a 96x30x24 acrylic.
Filtration is in the basement & consists of an acrylic sump that feeds a reeflo tarpon for 2x 40b and a 75g future-fuge. It also feeds into a Rubbermaid 100g tote that supplies a reeflo hammerhead to the main tank. (Hope this makes sense).

Skimmer - Sro6000 ext
Ca/rx - geo 618
Lighting - 2x 32" & 1x16" SB reef Wi-Fi led.
2x jebao gyre pumps and 2x rossmone mover pumps
Apex controls everything

The tank houses a few different sps/lps. Current fish:
M/F pair of bluethroat triggers
2x chronic
1 Lightning maroon clown
1 desjaardin
1 blue tang
1 yellow tang
1 diamond goby
1 yellow Coors wrasse
1 cleaner wrasse
1 emperor Angel

Thanks man, coming from you it's much appreciated! That build you've got going is phenominal!! I'll have to bribe you with some beer to check it out one day.

I'll get some pics of how it works up soon. Currently watching the kids and the two great danes, the basement is off-limits until I'm relieved of duty by the wife.

This tank has been up for about a month and a half. Pulled most of my rock from my 150 that was up for about 2 years.

Nice to see another big reef around here! Watch those Jebao pumps closely. They are notorious for failing. Love the build!

Thanks man.

They are notorious for failing, but so far have been awesome. For the price, I can replace the entire unit 3 times for the cost of a maxspect (which I've tried and have had fail much faster).

The shims are gone. Short work of that after the first stubbed toe.

Fisrt picture is the sump I used to have for my 150. Keeping it mostly empty with some algae for now. It's catching the majority of the detritis, making cleaning pretty easy.

Second, two 40b frag tanks. Hoping to gill one with nem's and the other with the random corals I see, but can't figure out where I would put in my display. Under the right one is the 100g Rubbermaid that feeds the barracuda for the display. I really wanted a reservior that had nothing at all in it prior to the return. Easy to throw a filter dock in there and also little fluctuation for the ato.

Third pic - 75g future-fuge. Thinking about macros and xenia with maybe some cool little predator in it (frogfish).

Fourth is how the plumbing leaves the sump and feeds the tarpon for the fuge/40's. Behind the reactor (624, not 618 like I stated at first) is the line that leads to the Rubbermaid.

vermitid snails - superglue closed or is there a method that you prefer? I've had limited success with the glue in the past, just curious what everyone else uses.

I have tried the glue trick and it didn't work too well. I heard of kalk paste as well, but that has its drawbacks as well. What worked best for me was getting a wrasse to deal with it. :whistle:

vermitid snails - superglue closed or is there a method that you prefer? I've had limited success with the glue in the past, just curious what everyone else uses.

I take my bone cutter or pliers and just crush the base of their tube. I wouldnt recommend doing it with your hands as their tube can break off and cut you pretty good. Learned that the hard way, but found that the fragging tools worked better then anything.

Just curious, how far off the water are your lights? They look really far away from the tank. Are those light racks adjustable? Do any par tests with them to determine optimal height?

The lights are 15" from the water. Was going to pull them down to 12/13 but there doesn't seem to be any problem with growth or color after a month or so.

They're not adjustable, just aluminum angle iron bolted together and mounted to the wall.

I'm going to start working on the snails soon. They're not put of control, yet. Thanks again for the info!
