So this happened the other day…I was looking at the tank that was gradually about to over flow and turns out the tiny feather dusters really like the overflow to the point it was completely blocked.

WOW, never seen them grouped up like that. Going to be checking some overflows

We have corals growing and everything was starting to look up. The power outage yesterday must've caused a surge over here and two of the three light fixtures have burnt out power supplies. At $200 a pop that either kills my budget for the tank or we improvise. Looks like we will be improvising and going back to halides?

So I am improvising! I just found the exact spec power supply that isn't even housed in a plastic case of any kind that is intended for stepper motors, but according to my research should work just fine! The ones I found on Amazon were more expensive and were only rated to 5amps and 240 watts and the reviews were pretty bad. I will also be adding a surge protector prior to my power strips.

If they work and are cheap, order a few more immediately. Doubtful that a surge protector will help much, but worth a try - they are just made to be disposable in most cases. Unfortunately, good tech is expensive and cheap tech is not good, so spares for reasonable prices are a good idea.

The reason these likely blew was due to the power outage yesterday. I will probably order some more later once I see how these do.
