Catfish Charli's is a shop with caution type of store. Ive personally been there on a few occasions, a couple of times I was decently impressed, the other 2 times I was very un impressed. Ive bought 2 fish from him and didnt have any issues, and the price was great. Never bought any coral form him, was never overly impressed by his selection.

If you buy anything from him be sure you QT it for sure.

What's the name of the current owner? Is it a big guy named Ron still, or changed one or several times?

Yes I'm the "big guy" (as Ghostly said) that created Catfish Charlie's Tropical Fish "decades ago" (as Dave said). I sold the business in 1996 and went strictly wholesale selling tropical fish till 2004 when I retired. Catfish Charlie's in the 80's and 90's was the largest shop in Colorado, if not the nation with 317 display tanks with 60 being saltwater! I re-opened a much smaller shop a little over a year ago. I see ReefCheif calls me a "caution type store", but we have hundreds of very loyal customers that I believe would disagree with that statement. I agree we've had some issues or should I say "growing pains" from time to time, but I've done my best to correct ALL issues! We sell between $3000 to $6000 of saltwater fish every week and with that large volume speaks for itself! We'll be soon (hoping next month) to add nine more 75 gal tanks to our salt system. I've joined MASC and thinking about becoming a sponsor, but I'll still support this group any way I can! I still believe we have a fantastic selection with the best prices on some of the healthiest fish in the area. Yes I know my "coral" selection is poor, but after all we are Catfish Charlie's Tropical Fish (not coral):shame: but we're hoping to improve our selection very soon!

+1 with any business or should I even say owning any business there's always people that will hate and that being said they might be right but come on...run a business and see how it is! It's hard to impress everyone! I'm not going to throw down my flag by just a couple of peeps sayin they got bad service. Do what they do, come back and let's hear your feed back

I have only been to CCs a couple times...but in those times I have to say, I was impressed.
Impressed enough to keep driving 50 miles each way to go there.
Everything I gotten from them was healthy, and pest free and is still alive in my tank.
They are currently looking for a little goby/shrimp family for my tank and when/if they can find it, I will be confident going the 50 miles to get it. :)
+1 for Catfish Charlie's

Hi Ron, glad you chimed up. I worked for you as a teenager one Summer about 20 years ago, lol! I think your shop was just on S.Boulder Rd. But since then been mostly living in Denver. I have a class in Louisville, so I'll need to come check out your new digs for sure. Thanks for letting us know your history. Looking forward to my next visit.

I didnt mean what I said in a bad way, and if you read further on my posts I also mention I have personally purchased fish from you as well and have had no issues. Unfortunatly as a reef guy Im alot more into coral than I am fish, hense my comment about small coral selection. I will definatly shop with you in the future and was not trying to detour anyone form shopping with you, infact if you skim through the threads Im sure youll find quite a few where i have reccomended you as a good LFS to go to.

Catfish Charlies is in the little shopping center on the south corner of South Boulder and Centaur Village Dr. Right behind a gas station and across the street from a Little Cesars. It is a little hard to find since his land lord has been giving him the run around on putting up a sign.

+1 on Catfish Charlies. I picked up a nice gorgonian at a very nice price along with some inverts. With being in this hobby for 26yrs now, I remember heading over to your place with my buddies a long time ago.
