If you are really concerned about it, I would suggest getting a 55 gallon drum to store RO/DI water in, and use your current container for mixing salt. There are a couple places that sell them here. Or you can find them on craigslist. Make sure to get one that is food grade.
Use a power washer if you have it. If you cant get one, go to one of those $0.25 car washes and wash it out using just the high pressure water, no soap or anything.
I've heard about RO/DI water making certain containers leach (water stored with 0 ppm, not with salt) - what's that all about? How would you know besides waiting and measuring.

i have heard Rubbermaid ( i think) leaching something but i forget what and the actual brand ... ...i think jiggyfly said it on the southern site and im sure there is something about it on the evil empire (aka RC)
I've had rubbermaids either as a sump or as a tank for a few years now with no I'll effects that I could tell?? Also, I have a 55 gallon drum that you could come get, I do live in FOCO (not very far but for some Denver people it's like driving to Alaska or something ). PM me and I'm sure we could work something out?
